Our company was incorporated in 1984 within the State of North Carolina, and opened its doors for business in August of 1985. The company has continually grown to a point where we currently serve more than 600 individuals, and employ more than 1000 people across the state.
Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years.
One center also offers after school care through age 12.

Direct Support Professional - Community/Client Home Based Services

Become a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities meet their personal goals.

Pay Rate: $16/hr
Due to personal care needs and family preference, support worker must be female.
Hours: 20 hr/wk available with one client, 10-12 hr/wk available with second client. Employee could work both schedules or choose one of the two. 30 hours earns benefits.
Schedule options
- 20 hr/wk:
Either 10hr daytime shifts on Saturday and Sunday, or shorter weekend shifts plus one or two weekday evenings (5p-9p, for example). Up to your preference. - 10-12 hr/wk: 3-4 hr shifts Tuesday afternoons, Thursday mornings, and optional Wednesdays.
Job Description:
The DSP is responsible for various duties related to overall support and care for individuals receiving services. We serve individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and secondary mental health needs.
The DSP works in the individual's home and/or in a community setting, providing care according to the specific needs and goals of the individual.
This care may include:
- personal care, including incontinence care
- behavioral support
- medication administration
- community engagement
- opportunities for communication and recreation/leisure

Requirements
- Comfort with providing full incontinence care
- High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school.
- Valid NC Driver's license and acceptable Driving Record.
- Insured vehicle for client transportation.
- Criminal Record Check.
- Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
- Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.
- Ability to remain on one's feet most of the time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Prompt and regular attendance. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
- Ability to meet client-specific needs. Due to personal care needs, this family is seeking a female DSP.
