Overview
As a Programme Facilitator in the Probation Service you will deliver a range of Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions to people who engage in harmful behaviour, helping to reduce the likelihood of reoffending. Your work will primarily focus on individuals subject to Community Orders or on licence after release, including those with convictions for domestic abuse, sexual abuse and other violent or acquisitive offences.
Responsibilities- Deliver group and one‑to‑one sessions that support people in desisting from crime and building pro‑social lives.
- Manage group dynamics, address challenging behaviour and ensure sessions remain effective.
- Monitor progress, risk and wellbeing throughout the intervention.
- Keep accurate records and share insights with relevant teams.
- Work closely with courts and criminal justice agencies to support sentence management.
- Provide workshops and briefings to probation staff and external stakeholders.
- Use pro‑social modelling to reinforce positive behaviours.
- Travel to different locations as required and claim travel expenses.
- Work unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends, and accept unsocial hour payments.
- Successful completion of a 6‑month probationary period, including assessment centre participation and training assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver evidence‑based accredited programmes and structured interventions.
- Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to work effectively in a structured and dynamic environment.

Regionally based with travel required across a large area. - Hours:
Standard full‑time is 37 hours per week. Unsocial working (evenings, Saturdays, weekends) is expected and compensated. - Hybrid Working:
Where business needs allow, a hybrid arrangement blending base, MoJ sites and/or home working may be discussed.
Starting salary: £28,064 per annum. Additional unsocial hour payments available – 30% for evenings and 50% for Saturdays.
Annual pay progression through the Competency Based Framework (CBF). New entrants join at the entry salary for the advertised band; existing civil servants have their pay calculated on transfer/promotion rules.
