Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Adult Career Mentor is responsible for supporting adults through all five steps of the Future Plans process: assessment, coaching, discovery, preparation, and placement. This position serves all adult populations, including adults facing barriers to employment and adults involved in or transitioning from systems such as corrections, courts, treatment, recovery, reentry, developmental disability services, and other community-based support systems.

The Adult Career Mentor meets participants where they are and provides individualized career coaching, mentoring, referral support, and employment connection services to help participants move toward meaningful work, long-term career growth, and greater financial sufficiency. Services may be provided virtually, in person, in the community, and within partner facilities or systems serving priority adult populations, including facilities and organizations that support adults with developmental disabilities.

While the primary focus of this position is adult career mentoring and employment support, the Adult Career Mentor may also support Future Plans’ youth-related services and initiatives as needed. This may include providing career exploration, coaching, assessment support, or related services in schools, youth-serving organizations, or other approved educational and community-based settings.

This position requires a strong understanding of regional employment opportunities, workforce trends, in-demand occupations, employer needs, training pathways, and remote work opportunities.

The Adult Career Mentor will use this knowledge to help participants identify realistic career pathways and connect to employment opportunities aligned with their strengths, interests, needs, abilities, support needs, and goals.

The Adult Career Mentor also plays a key role in helping participants address barriers to employment. This position must develop and maintain deep knowledge of regional organizations, agencies, programs, and resources that support barrier removal and address the social determinants of work, including transportation, housing, childcare, recovery supports, legal needs, basic needs, education, training, digital access, disability-related supports, and other participant supports.

The Adult Career Mentor will work collaboratively with internal Future Plans teams, community partners, employers, training providers, developmental disability service providers, schools, youth-serving organizations, and 1099 coaches to ensure a consistent, informed, and participant-centered approach to career development and employment support.
