The Art Services team within the Community Services Department is seeking an energetic, dynamic, and organized auxiliary Assistant Program Coordinator to join us! In this role, you will report to and work in collaboration with Program Coordinators, and you will support a variety of projects and priorities. It is an excellent opportunity for internal staff looking to gain additional programming and leadership experience, while developing skills to prepare for future career opportunities.

Your primary responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
Assisting in the planning, promotion, and implementation of community events, programs, and services that engage the community; and providing leadership and instruction across such activities.

• Supervision of front line workers and program staff, providing direction, guidance, and mentoring;

• Building supervision and operation support.

• Support to resolve public service complaints in promptly and tactfully, and in accordance with established procedures,

• Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with staff and community.

• Assists with monitoring program budgets and drafting promotional material for review and approval.

• Performs general office assistance such as responding to telephone inquiries and taking registrations.

• Performs other related work as required.

• Completion of a Certificate or diploma in Arts Administration, Community Recreation, or a related field supplemented by some experience in recreation programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as deemed suitable by the employer.

• Knowledge of the principals, practices, methods, and objectives of community recreation.

• Ability to develop opportunities that reflect the interests and needs of the community.

• Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills, with experience in staff and volunteer supervision.

• Demonstrated skill in event and program planning for all ages, particularly in relation to art services.

• Possesses strong skills in conflict resolution and customer service.

• Experience building and maintaining relationships with staff, members of the public, and community partners.

• Experience with promotion and working with budgets and reports.

• Ability to perform general office duties such as program registration and processing payments.

• Ability to work independently and perform tasks with minimal supervision.

• Valid First Aid and CPR certification.

• Proficiency in the use of various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite and registration software.

• Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings, weekends, and stat holidays.

• Ability to pass and maintain a satisfactory Police Information Check - Vulnerable Sector.
