Position: County Caseworker 2 (Local Government) - Luzerne County C&Y (Multiple Vacancies)

Responsibilities
  • Case Assessment: Collect information from children, families, and community partners to understand needs
  • Service Planning: Develop plans that guide families toward improved safety and stability
  • Counseling Support: Provide guidance to help clients adjust emotionally, socially, and physically
  • Resource Coordination: Connect families with agencies and programs that can offer assistance
  • Progress Monitoring: Track client behavior and document changes to ensure goals are being met

    Collaboration:

    Work with supervisors, coworkers, and service networks to maintain effective care
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
  • Vacancies may be filled in the Wilkes-Barre or Hazleton offices.
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home part‑time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre or Hazleton. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
    • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
    • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
    • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
    • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
    • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
  • Other Requirements:
    • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
