This opportunity is for County Caseworkers to build rapport and a professional relationship with consumers of all ages in services and their families. Serve as an advocate for the consumer, monitor the delivery of services, link individuals to services, develop social supports, and encourage self‑determination.

This professional position is responsible for providing case management to individuals meeting criteria for developmental delays, mental health, and/or intellectual disabilities.

• Monitor, link, and evaluate services; make referrals as needed.
• Provide regular direct individual contact and face‑to‑face case management services.
• Schedule and facilitate meetings to develop an individualized service plan involving the individual and/or family.
• Enter and maintain information in the computerized database, state computer systems, and charts in accordance with regulations and agency policy.
• Provide crisis intervention services as required.
• Work cooperatively with agency staff, supervisors, other providers, and community resources.
• Link individuals to transportation services or transport them to appointments as needed.
• Attend meetings, staffings, and trainings as needed; may provide coverage in Somerset County.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Full‑time employment, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• Occasionally, work may require hours outside of the set work week or on weekends.
• Hours may vary to meet consumer needs.
  • Finance:
    This position reports to the DBHS Office in Bedford, with potential coverage in Somerset County at times.
• Telework:
  New staff begin training and are on probation for 6 months. Eligible for hybrid on‑site/remote work after 3 months.

• Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1, or
• Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program, or
• A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major, or
• A bachelor’s degree supplemented by 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience, or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 credits in the above fields.
• Applicants will be considered qualified once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.

• PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation.
• The position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law and the Older Adults Protective Services Act. Conditional offers require satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.
