THE POSITION

This opportunity is for County Caseworkers to build rapport and a professional relationship with consumers of all ages in services and their families. Serve as an advocate for the consumer, monitor the delivery of services, link individuals to services, develop social supports, and encourage self-determination. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
  • Provide case management to individuals meeting criteria for developmental delays, mental health, and/or intellectual disabilities.
  • Monitor, link, and evaluate services; make referrals as needed.
  • Provide regular direct individual contact and face‑to‑face case management services.
  • Meet productivity standards set for the program.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings to develop an individualized service plan involving the individual and/or family.
  • Enter and maintain necessary information in a computerized database, state computer systems, and charts in accordance with state, federal, and licensing regulations and agency policy.
  • Obtain and update information within required time frames.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Work in cooperation with and consult with agency staff, supervisors, other providers, and community resources as needed.
  • Link individuals to transportation services or transport individuals to appointments as needed.
  • Attend meetings, staffings, and trainings as needed; may provide coverage in Somerset County.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Full‑time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
  • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency.
  • Hours may vary to meet the needs of the consumers.
  • This position reports to the DBHS Office in Bedford for work.
  • May provide coverage in Somerset County.
  • Telework:
    After a 6‑month probationary training period, new staff may be eligible for a hybrid of on‑site and remote work after 3 months of employment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including “payton state police, child abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.”
