This role focuses on helping children and families manage difficult situations and find the support they need. You will guide individuals through challenges and connect them with resources that improve their well‑being. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Client Interviews: Gather information from clients and families to identify social, emotional, economic, and health needs
- Case Support: Provide counseling and direct assistance to improve client adjustment and stability
- Protective Services: Deliver safety‑focused services for children and adults who face harmful or unsafe situations
- Service Planning: Take part in meetings and review plans to ensure families receive the right support over time
- Resource Coordination: Identify community resources and link clients to appropriate services while advocating for their needs
- Recordkeeping: Prepare reports, documents, and case histories according to agency policies
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part‑time, up to 1 day per week after 6 months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Greensburg, PA.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
- Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
- A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
