Are you passionate about strengthening families, supporting parents, and making a lasting impact in your community?
Oakland County Community Health is seeking a compassionate and community-focused Public Health Nurse to support families through the evidence-based Nurturing Parenting Program. In this role, you’ll provide education, guidance, and support to parents and caregivers through home-based and group sessions designed to promote healthy parenting practices, prevent child abuse and neglect, and improve family well-being.

What You ll Do- Complete training and become a certified facilitator of the Nurturing Parenting Program
- Facilitate individual and group parenting sessions using the evidence-based curriculum with fidelity to the program model
- Deliver culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate parenting education and support
- Assess clients’ needs with empathy and a nonjudgmental approach while providing education, resources, and referrals
- Maintain accurate client documentation and follow established program protocols
- Participate in outreach events and community education efforts focused on positive parenting and child abuse prevention
- Collaborate with community agencies, healthcare providers, and partner organizations to support positive family outcomes
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuous quality improvement efforts

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Michigan.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The degree evaluation will be required for application processing.
- Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
- Successfully complete the six (6) month probationary period.
Note:
Applicants who are eligible to be licensed by the State of Michigan and who meet the other requirements listed above may be considered for this position and this examination but will not be eligible for appointment until they have been licensed by or possess a valid permit from the Michigan Board of Nursing.
