Community Schools Manager

The Community Schools Manager provides wrap-around & social service support to students and their families within the Tumwater School District. This role implements and manages a Community Schools model through school-and-community-based outreach, youth mentorship and family case management. This role works collaboratively with school partners and local organizations to close the opportunity gaps in education, health, and overall well-being for students and families in Tumwater schools.

The Community Schools Program operates through the academic year and summer break to provide community outreach and case management support year round.

Monday–Friday with occasional evenings, weekends, and travel as required based on program and organizational needs.

Candidates hired for this position can expect a wage of $28.57 – $34.30 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Total annual salary range for this position is $59,429.97 – $ 71,341.92, as applicable. Eligible for competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, IRA retirement plan, and paid leave.

This is a primarily on-site role, with remote work available as appropriate based on organizational needs and role responsibilities. The primary work locations for this position are Tumwater High School and the TOGETHER! Headquarters Office. Reliable transportation is required to travel between the TOGETHER! office and assigned program location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with school staff, youth, families, community members and partner agencies to support students' academic success and overall well-being. Develop and nurture relationships with these sectors.
  • Create school needs assessment and plan with school leadership and counselors. Design services or supports around the plan.
  • Provide services that are needs-driven, human-centered and in adherence with the Community Schools Model, including but not limited to expanded learning opportunities, health services, parent/family engagement, adult education, direct material assistance and interventions targeted to low-income, homeless and/or chronically absent students.
  • Assist students and families with essential basic needs supports, to include; housing instability, eviction prevention, health or government assistance navigation, food insecurity, referrals to community organizations, and resource transportation.
  • Leverage, develop, and strengthen programs that increase educational opportunities and social connections for families and students, provided through the school or community partners.
  • Manage a caseload of 40-50 students at Tumwater High School. Use the TOGETHER! in-take, provide follow up support and update data tracking systems for student progress and other reporting requirements.
  • Assist Spanish-speaking students and families with school and systems navigation. (if applicable)
  • Co-manage Ameri Corps service members, interns, and volunteers assigned to serve at this program site. Participate in volunteer-recruitment efforts for site's program needs. (if applicable)
  • Independently manage a Community Resource Center in assigned program service building(s). Generate support from school clubs, community partners and local donors to keep the center stocked.
  • Serve as the point-person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with the assigned school to help facilitate and broker new community partnerships who align with the school's goals and needs.
  • Participate in school-student intervention teams to offer individualized case management services rooted from a community-based approach.
  • Responsible for required community assessments, data collection, reports, program-wide initiatives, adherence to the Community Schools model.
  • Other duties as assigned, including performing own administrative work.
  • Attend agency training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Represent TOGETHER! and the Community Schools Program at events
  • Ensure implementation of policies adopted by TOGETHER!'s Board of Directors.
  • Follow the TOGETHER! Employed Personnel Policies.
