Job Overview
Intake Services Intern will assist the International Rescue Committee (IRC) intake team in Baltimore with daily activities that help refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants become self‑sufficient. The intern will help conduct eligibility assessments, meet clients and families, and maintain intake documentation.
Responsibilities- Assist clients remotely or in‑person with intake assessment appointments.
- Support service documentation through case‑notes and case file maintenance.
- Help organize weekly intake days at the office.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Prior experience and interest working with refugees and immigrants preferred.
- Prior experience and interest in case management or social work preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast‑paced, global environment.
- Flexible, reliable, with outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web‑based applications (databases, Box).
- Fluency in English required.
- Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired.
- Location: In‑person hybrid – Tuesday & Thursday (9AM–2PM) and Friday (9AM–3PM). Remote work and field time in the greater Baltimore area are also incorporated.
- Start: Required orientation on Monday, June8,2026 (≈9:30AM–3PM). Internships then run from the week of June8through September
11,2026 (14weeks). - Hours: Minimum of 15hours per week for 14weeks. Interns must attend the office at least 3 days per week.
- Laptop: IRC will issue a laptop for the duration of the internship.
- Reimbursement: Internships are unpaid. Summer
2026 interns may receive a per‑diem of $15 per day (7.5hrs) and mileage reimbursement for approved activities.
