Full‑time position with hourly wage of $20.05. Hybrid work schedule after 6 months. The role is located in the Logan Office, with remote work permissible in a hybrid arrangement. Applicants must reside in Utah.
Key ResponsibilitiesAre you a compassionate person who enjoys helping others? The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is seeking skilled and motivated individuals to fill Eligibility Specialist I positions within the Eligibility Services Division.
Successful applicants will train in person for two weeks at the Logan DWS office, after which the remaining six weeks of training will be conducted in a nearby DWS office (within 50 miles of home), contingent on space availability. After six months, the position may become eligible for a hybrid schedule (2 days in the office, 3 days remote), requiring in‑office attendance for team meetings and mandatory training.
Approval of hybrid remote work is based on performance and is at the discretion of the supervisor and manager.
State of Utah employees must reside in Utah. In recognition of Governor Cox’s Executive Order on rural Utah hiring, preference may be given to applicants who physically reside outside the Wasatch Front.
Job Duties- Accurately apply complex policies and procedures to determine initial and/or continuing eligibility for public assistance programs such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, General Assistance, SNAP, Medicaid, or Child Care.
- Assist customers seeking financial and other supportive services by identifying and assessing service needs through daily processing of individual and team caseloads.
- Ensure timely delivery of services in compliance with federal regulations.
- Exercise good judgment in working with clients who require assistance in utilizing community, department, or government resources.
- Answer phone calls from customers to complete interviews, inquire about case status, or request information on available programs and benefits.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has:
- 4 years of work experience determining eligibility for unemployment, veteran benefits, loans, financial assistance, social service programs, or other similar work.
- Superb communication skills – ability to communicate with customers and co‑workers from all backgrounds.
- Preference may be given to applicants who speak Spanish fluently.
