Koinonia Family Services is excited to announce an opportunity for a part-time child and family social worker to serve youth and families in our foster and adoption programs in the Fresno and Visalia area. This is a hybrid remote position, with team meetings and office duty conducted at our Fresno office, and other time spent working remotely. Koinonia is one of California’s leading children’s services agencies.

Responsibilities include social work and case management of children in foster‑adopt placement; providing support services to resource parents; writing SAFE home study assessments; and providing ongoing case management and services for children in approved foster and adoption placement, including post‑adoption services. We are seeking candidates with strong Spanish language proficiency to ensure effective communication with our diverse client base.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • A great chance to support and mentor youth.
  • Hourly pay rate: $31‑$33 per hour or higher, depending upon overall qualifications
  • Flexible hours and schedule.
  • Benefits include paid time off (PTO) and participation in our 401k plan.
  • Mileage reimbursement is included for business miles driven.
  • Enhance your knowledge and skills by working alongside a team of professionals who provide support and services to families.
  • Benefit from professional training and development opportunities.

This is a part‑time position with a schedule of approximately 5–10 hours per week, depending on the assigned caseload.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide social work and case management for up to 7 to 8 children in foster and foster‑to‑adopt placement
  • Conduct detailed intake and assessment of youth
  • Prepare home studies and assessments of families
  • Offer timely crisis intervention services, addressing mental health, behavioral issues, or other urgent needs
  • Manage each child’s case with record‑keeping and care planning
  • Support biological families towards reunification, where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with external agencies for comprehensive child care and support
  • Train and supervise foster parents to meet the children’s needs
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation with other team members
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in a social service setting, working with children and families (preferred)
  • ACSW registration (preferred)
  • Experience writing SAFE home studies
  • Skilled in therapeutic modalities, assessments, and treatment planning
  • Experience in child welfare, juvenile justice, and crisis intervention
  • Strong commitment to cultural competency and ethical practices

Qualified candidates must complete a criminal background clearance through the California Department of Justice and FBI to ensure eligibility for employment, as well as a pre‑employment physical and TB test.
