Human Services Training Specialist

Overview

At Larimer County Department of Human Services, we strive to be responsive and to provide timely resources in partnership with our community so that individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff member to join our Benefits and Community Support (BCS) Division as a Training Specialist.

Required Experience: Two (2) years experience in a directly related field, including one (1) year of experience equivalent to that of a Community Support Specialist II or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities in a human services program.

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM. Hybrid: typically four days remote and one day in office. Remote work stipend provided. Three professional references with valid contact information are required for submission as part of this application.

• Develop and deliver training on assistance program rules, procedures, and systems.
• Evaluate trainee performance and provide feedback to staff and supervisors.
• Coach staff during classroom and on‑job training.
• Provide indirect supervision and coordinate assigned work.
• Correct applications for Colorado Works, SNAP, Medicaid, and Adult Financial programs.

• Ability to accurately apply complex rules, policies, and State Staff Manual guidance.
• Familiarity with state systems and common business software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Skill in researching and using data from multiple sources.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries in a large agency.
• Sound judgment in evaluating complex issues and policies.
• Experience facilitating groups and resolving concerns.
• Understanding of basic supervisory and training principles.
• Demonstrated leadership; lead work experience is a plus.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
