Position Overview
Compliance Investigator II – This role provides independent third‑party review and quality improvement processes for the Division of Child Welfare (CW) and Division of Youth Services (DYS). The position follows a hybrid work arrangement with remote work and regular travel. An employee will maintain a home office within 20 miles of the CDHS offices.
Responsibilities- Conduct periodic Administrative Reviews for children every six months and Administrative Permanency Reviews every 12 months.
- Review child welfare assessments, in‑home service cases, and child and family services reviews.
- Provide case‑specific technical assistance and deliver training on systemic issues to county, regional, court, and state staff.
- Schedule review staff and coordinate review schedules to meet federal requirements for timely periodic reviews.
- Analyze data, interpret findings, recommend administrative responses or sanctions for non‑compliance, and prepare report findings.
- Travel to assigned counties and conduct over‑night stays as required (approx. 6–8 nights/month).
- Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
- Two (2) years of professional human services investigative experience conducting child and/or youth abuse and neglect investigations, or supervising professional social caseworkers in child protection and/or youth services.
- Experience demonstrating knowledge of Volume VII Regulations, the Colorado Children’s Code, and Colorado child welfare processes.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in ongoing permanency casework and/or intake and assessment casework.
- Minimum of one year experience with Colorado Trails or other relevant SACWIS systems.
- Intermediate computer skills to enter information into databases and produce reports.
- Strong understanding of federal and state law as it applies to administrative review.
- Experience conducting child and youth abuse and neglect investigations or supervising professional social caseworkers.
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Certification through the Child Welfare Training Academy in supervising child welfare caseworkers.
- Exceptional communication skills, including curriculum development and training delivery.
- Full background and reference check required.
- Must be a resident of Colorado and maintain residency throughout employment.
- Valid, non‑restricted Colorado driver’s license or non‑restricted U.S. driver’s license required.
- Hybrid work arrangement: home office with expected frequent travel to county departments.
- Home office within 20 miles of CDHS offices; relocation may be required.
