Title: Community Transportation Navigator (2 openings)

Location: Greater King County region with occasional travel to Redmond for team meetings. (home sites of North or South King County)

Work schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Hybrid:
In-person with some remote work from home opportunities. Approximately 80% in-person with 20% remote. Occasional pre-planned evenings & weekends for outreach with flex time options.

Who we are: Since 1971, Hopelink has provided stability-building programs for people experiencing poverty, immigrants and refugees, and people with disabilities. We are the largest nonprofit in North and East King County.

Hopelink programs work in tandem to fill gaps, supporting each family or individual’s unique needs. These include food, energy, and financial assistance, housing with case management, mobility management, non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), Dial-a-Ride Transit (DART), English for work, family development, and financial capabilities.

Hopelink’s Mobility Management team empowers people to change their lives by facilitating access to the community. We do this by (1) providing travel education and resources to build awareness of existing transportation options; (2) supporting the coordination of specialized transportation through cross-sector collaborations; and (3) gathering data and needs assessment to recommend and implement improved services. We work to make it easier for all people to get around King County through innovative, collaborative problem-solving.

Working under the supervision of the Community Transportation Navigators (CTN) Program Manager, the Community Transportation Navigator plays an essential role in providing transportation education and outreach to the Health Through Housing (HTH) program’s clients to increase their access to transportation. In this role, you will build relationships with individuals transitioning into permanent or temporary housing, provide peer support, and serve as a trusted resource and advocate.

Drawing on your personal experience and trauma-informed practices, you will help bridge gaps in services and empower individuals to navigate transportation systems, access support, and pursue stability.

The ideal candidate will be resourceful, self-motivated, and possess an enterprising spirit and passion for making an impact in the local community. They will have a demonstrated history working with diverse communities, preferably unhoused individuals, low-income, older adults, people with disabilities, or Veterans. This role focuses on building trust with individuals who have previously experienced homelessness. Lived experience with housing instability or homelessness is highly valuable, as it brings a unique understanding and insight into the challenges faced by the communities we serve.

What

qualities we are looking for:
  • Experience of navigating homelessness or transitioning out of homelessness, with the ability to draw on that experience to support and connect with others.
  • Experience working with individuals or communities affected by housing instability or a disability.
  • Willingness to learn crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
  • Multi-lingual candidates or members of BIPOC communities - black, indigenous, people of color - or people who have personal experience in historically marginalized and excluded communities and/or lived experience with homelessness are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Collaborative and team player.
  • Demonstrated communication, collaboration skills, customer service skills, and/or community engagement.
  • Computer/technology proficiency: ability to use MS Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Lists, and Excel) and program specific systems, etc.
