OverviewThe Intercept program offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in an evidence‑based model serving youth and families identified through the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). The program serves a broad population in Ocean, Monmouth, and Mercer counties, including those involved with multiple child‑serving systems and those at high risk of removal. Specialists carry a small caseload of five families, providing individualized support in the home and community to maintain youth in the home and strengthen family systems.
Responsibilities- Advocate for families within any involved system, such as CP&P or CSOC, gathering information to develop interventions and advocating in the best interest of each child’s long‑term stability.
- Coordinate and conduct an average of three face‑to‑face sessions per family each week, including youth and support systems.
- Attend trainings, supervision, and professional development, following up on feedback and recommendations from the Team Supervisor, Program Director, and Licensed Program Expert.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
- Maintain flexible, non‑traditional schedules based on family availability; long hours and after‑hours support may be required on a rotating on‑call basis. Remote work is possible with in‑person reporting for program meetings; personal transportation is required.
- Provide transportation support for families only when all other means have been exhausted, possibly using an agency vehicle.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Adaptability and willingness to maintain a flexible schedule.
- Receptive to constructive feedback and eager to implement new ideas and strategies during sessions.
- Practice a trauma‑informed philosophy, demonstrated through behaviors and communication that embrace it as a cultural value.
- Education:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred; a bachelor’s degree in social services with at least one year of counseling or case management experience is required. - Experience:
Prior case management and/or counseling experience is preferred. - License:
Valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing. - Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Incentive $1,000.00.
