County Caseworker 2

This position involves working directly with children and families to support their safety and well-being while following agency guidance. You will manage assigned cases, respond to referrals, and participate in reviews. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Case Support: Assist children and families through assigned service plans
  • Family Engagement: Conduct visits and maintain communication with families to guide progress
  • Investigative Work: Carry out assessments and investigations for accepted cases
  • Service Planning: Develop and review plans that meet legal and policy requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • On-Call rotations as well as home visits accommodating work and school schedules
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time one day per week/two days per pay period. However, requests to telework must be sent to the Director prior to being off to ensure that no more than 20% of caseworkers are working away from the office on any given day. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Huntingdon.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility:

Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
