Looking for a job that makes a difference in the lives of local families?

LSI currently seeks part‑time Respite Providers to provide respite care services in the Ames, Boone and surrounding counties. The purpose of respite care is to give the parent or primary caregiver a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a child or adult with a disability.

Respite Providers have flexibility to create their own schedule around the family's needs. This position also has the potential to work from home after a probationary period. Providers will work in the community or in‑home and may be required to provide care during evenings, weekends and/or overnights.

Flexible hours! You set your own schedule working directly with families and can work from home after initial training. You will need to be available for some evenings, weekends and hours that families would like to use respite. This position is ideal for college students, builds experience, and is great for someone looking to give back or earn extra supplemental income.

Consistent communication is required.

DUTIES

If you are a great communicator, appreciate setting your own schedule, and are passionate about serving others, being a Respite Provider may be for you. You will provide a break for the parent or guardian of an individual with a disability. You may provide respite for a few hours in the evening up to a full weekend. Your schedule will depend on the family's needs and your desire to serve.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred. Must be proficient in computer skills and have access to a computer/tablet and internet to complete documentation.

This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
