Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Medicaid Services (DMS) is filling multiple Income Maintenance Specialist-Advanced (IMS-Adv) positions at Milwaukee Enrollment Services (MilES). MilES serves residents of Milwaukee County to determine eligibility for Medicaid, Badger Care Plus, Food Share, and other income maintenance assistance programs. As an IMS‑Adv you will perform case management for applicants and members of Badger Care Plus, Child Care, Food Share, and other income maintenance assistance programs for Milwaukee County residents.
Responsibilities:
- Applying complex federal, state, and local policies to achieve program objectives.
- Advising staff on policies and regulations of the various income maintenance programs.
- Making case decisions involving difficult, complex, and sensitive choices for program participants, including identifying discrepancies and errors and calculating over payments and underpayments.
- Providing testimony at fair hearings.
- Performing case management review in the Client Assistance for Reemployment and Economic Support (CARES) system and the CARES Worker Web (CWW) system.
- Supporting clients and MilES through regular call center/phone work.
The starting pay is between $31.50 and $34.00 per hour (approximately $65,500 to $70,700 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12‑month probationary period is required. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the applicable rules. This position is in pay schedule and range 12/63.

For remote work flexibility, working outside Wisconsin or bordering cities is not allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location on short notice.
Employees must have access to a private workspace and secure high‑speed internet for remote work. Mileage reimbursement to headquarters location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed during the interview process.

QualificationsMinimally qualified candidates will have all of the following:
- Experience performing income maintenance program eligibility determination including the use of CARES and CWW.
- Experience auditing or reviewing casework or other information (e.g., reviewing determinations made by others, ensuring compliance with policy).
- Experience serving as a job expert in a team setting (e.g., providing technical assistance, resolving problems).
- Experience reviewing reports or other materials to identify or investigate errors or inconsistencies (e.g., verifying calculations, identifying incorrect or missing information).
