Pay Range: $41.00 - $45.00 Per Hour

Hours: Average 4-8 hours per week. Should be available during after-school hours to provide research-based assessment and treatment to school-age children hours (approximately 3:00-6:00 pm, varying by research participants’ availability).

Job Description: The Syracuse University Speech Production Lab is hiring a part-time, hourly ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist to support an NIH-funded clinical trial. In this role, you will assist with assessment and treatment of school-age children (ages 9–17) with residual speech sound disorders, specifically misarticulations of /r/ and /s/.
This is a great opportunity for an SLP who enjoys applying evidence-based treatment protocols in a research context and working flexibly with families in home or community settings.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- CCC - SLP
Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience working with children with speech sound disorders
Responsibilities:
- Assist with assessment and treatment of school-age children ages 9-17 years with residual speech sound disorders (misarticulations of /r/ and /s/).
- Be available during after-school hours and follow research protocols for assessment and treatment using an evidence-based approach, Speech Motor Chaining.
- Conduct sessions at children’s homes or a public location such as a library room.
- Provide 16 hours of treatment per participant, plus progress‑monitoring visits. Treatment schedules include two 1‑hour sessions per week for 8 weeks, or a more intensive schedule (four 2‑hour visits in week one, three 1‑hour visits in weeks two and three, and two 1‑hour visits in week four).
- Treat one participant at a time, with approximately 4-5 participants per year.
- Kay miles reimbursed for travel to sessions; hourly rate of $41‑45/hr will be compensated (up to an additional 1 hr paid for pre/post session work for each session).
