Position: Court Executive 1B (Civil) **REPOST**

Overview

Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2b (Civil Division Manager), the self‑directed, results-oriented individual will manage supervisory staff from several units handling Civil docket types.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare supervisory staff performance assessments and develop, mentor and coach plans.
  • Recommend disciplinary actions or employee recognition actions.
  • Ensure team leaders coordinate the workflow handled by staff in their respective units.
  • Review court activities for compliance with laws, court rules and directives.
  • Prioritize work and monitor work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Participate in formulating and developing goals and objectives for the assigned units.
  • Prepare and analyze case processing statistical reports.
  • Create strategies to reduce backlog within time frames required by court rule and statute.
  • Work closely with assigned judge(s) and other managers.
  • Assess training needs and requirements to enhance skills of assigned staff.
  • Prepare and administer budget and monitor ongoing training policies and procedures.
  • Participate in job and team applicant interviews, handle customer service disputes, and assist with numerous Civil calendars.
  • Perform related work as required.
Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of professional administrative experience, including:

  • Experience reviewing court activities for compliance with laws, court rules or administrative directives.
  • Consulting with judges, attorneys and law clerks.
  • Evaluating case management systems.
  • Coordinating activities between agencies, government and enforcement units.
  • Preparing and analyzing case processing statistical reports.

Substitution:
Applicants lacking the required education may substitute additional professional experience year for year, with one year of such experience equal to 30 semester hour credits; an associate’s degree with two years of experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree may replace one year of experience; or a law degree may replace two years of experience.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $94,937.45 to $. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.

For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.

Remote Work

The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to two days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. In addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high‑speed home internet access. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

  • Driver’s license valid in New Jersey if operating a vehicle is necessary for essential duties.
  • US citizenship is not required; the selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US under DHS and USCIS regulations.
  • Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
  • Within one year of hire, a newly hired employee must establish and maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Exemptions may be requested by an employer for hardship or critical need.
