Human Services - Child Welfare Family Support/Case Aide

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Family Engagement and Case Support:
    • Supervise and facilitate parent‑child visits and family time in accordance with court orders and case plans
    • Observe and document family interactions during supervised visits
    • Assist families in understanding expectations related to visitation and case planning
    • Support positive family engagement and relationship building
    • Provide information regarding community resources and available services
    • Assist caseworkers with referrals and coordination of services
  • Child Transportation and Supervision:
    • Transport children, youth, and families to visits, court hearings, appointments, school activities, placements, and other approved activities
    • Ensure the safety and well‑being of children during transportation and supervised activities
    • Maintain appropriate documentation related to transportation and supervision activities
    • Provide supervision of children and youth as assigned
  • Administrative Support – Child Welfare:
    • Perform general administrative duties including answering phones, routing calls, preparing correspondence, filing, scheduling meetings, processing mail, and maintaining office supplies
    • Assist caseworkers and supervisors with records requests, case file maintenance, electronic document management, and data entry
    • Coordinate scheduling of meetings, family team meetings, staffing sessions, and appointments
    • Assist with obtaining medical, educational, court, and other required records
    • Screen incoming inquiries and assist walk‑in clients
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate information in state and county data systems, including TRAILS and other required databases
    • Make provider referrals and maintain case‑related records and documentation
    • Assist with Title IV‑E documentation, reporting requirements, and other state‑mandated administrative processes
    • Support contract tracking, provider payments, and service authorization processes
    • Prepare reports and documentation as assigned
  • Program Support:
    • Coordinate with Child Support Services, Eligibility, Adult Protection Services, and other Human Services programs as needed
    • Assist with provider communications and service coordination
    • Support Child Welfare program operations and special projects
    • Participate in emergency response activities and disaster support functions as assigned
    • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to establish professional relationships with children, families, foster parents, providers, and community partners
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult or emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to accurately document observations and activities and intervene with visit when necessary to address safety concerns
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors and team members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and electronic case management systems
