** Job Description
** At Blue Cross NC, we recognize the dedication, discipline, and leadership that transitioning service members bring to the workforce. Through our DoD Skill Bridge Program, we provide a unique opportunity for military personnel in their final months of service to gain hands-on experience in a civilian work environment while exploring meaningful career paths in the healthcare industry.

PLEASE NOTE:

This is not for a specific role, but a way for you to express interest so we can engage and identify a placement opportunity for you here.
By joining Blue Cross NC’s Skill Bridge Program, service members can deploy their leadership, problem-solving skills, and mission-driven mindset in a civilian setting. This internship provides a bridge between military service and a meaningful career in healthcare, allowing participants to continue their tradition of service—this time, by helping make healthcare better for all.
We are honored to support transitioning military professionals as they navigate this next chapter and invite you to explore how your skills can make a difference at Blue Cross NC.
**** This program is open to only active military service members.
****** Eligibility Requirements:
*** Applicants must be active-duty service members within their last 180 days of service at the time of internship start.
* Participants must receive approval from their commanding officer and service branch to engage in Skill Bridge. Blue Cross NC does not determine eligibility for participation.
* A minimum of 12 weeks of commitment is required for internship placement at Blue Cross NC.
* Candidates must have a clear end-of-service date that aligns with the internship timeline.
* For more information visit DoD Skill Bridge Program.
** Internship Placement & Selection:
*** Internship placement is not guaranteed and is based on available learning/training opportunities and the alignment of the service member’s skills and interests with organizational needs.
* Selected candidates will undergo a formal interview process to determine fit for available roles.
* Internships are unpaid and intended for training purposes only, with no guarantee of post-program employment.
* Participation is contingent upon approval from the service member's commanding officer and is not determined by Blue Cross NC.
* Interns can work remotely from any of the 50 U.S. states; however, at this time, we cannot accommodate U.S. territories.

* Note:

To be eligible for full-time employment at Blue Cross NC, individuals must reside and work in one of the following states:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, or Wyoming.
**
* Application Process:

*** Interested applicants must submit a current resume outlining military and civilian experience.
* Command and service branch approval documentation (if available).
* A statement of interest or cover letter describing career goals and Skill Bridge program objectives.
* Final selection is contingent upon Blue Cross NC’s internal review and business need alignment.
** Program Compliance:
*** The Blue Cross NC Skill Bridge Program is conducted in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) policies, guidance, and regulations. Participation is subject to DoD approval, and all service members must adhere to applicable program requirements throughout their internship.
** Additional Considerations
*** Service members are responsible for their own housing, transportation, and living expenses during the internship.
* Participation in the internship does not imply a future employment offer but provides valuable industry experience.
* Interns must adhere to all company policies and professional conduct standards throughout the program.
