Position: Job & Career Navigator

Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of families facing homelessness? Door of Hope, a Christian nonprofit that empowers families facing homelessness to transform their lives, is hiring a full-time Job & Career Navigator to be part of our life-changing work.

In this role, you will primarily support families in increasing income by strengthening employment and income stability while advancing toward long-term housing sustainability. The Job & Career Navigator provides individualized career coaching, employment preparation services, scholarship coordination, and workforce development opportunities that equip families to secure sustainable employment and pursue meaningful career pathways. Working collaboratively with Case Managers, the Job & Career Navigator ensures employment readiness is intentionally integrated into each family’s overall stabilization and housing plan, while also equipping staff with tools, resources, and strategies that strengthen employment and income-focused interventions across programs.

Reporting to the Head of Rehousing & Prevention, this position serves as Door of Hope’s primary workforce development specialist, combining direct client coaching, program development, scholarship administration, and outcome tracking. The Job & Career Navigator is expected to take initiative in shaping and expanding services by identifying emerging participant needs, developing creative employment and income solutions, and proactively strengthening program strategies and partnerships that promote long-term economic mobility for families.

  • Regular

    Schedule:

    5 days/week, 8 hours/day, M-Th in office, F work from home, core business hours (generally 9am – 5:30pm)
  • 4/40: 4 10 hours/day in office M-TH, 2 evening shifts/week, all Fridays off
  • 9/80: 4 9 hours/day in office M-TH, 2 evening shifts/week, Fridays alternate between day off
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct one-on-one career coaching sessions including career exploration and goal setting, resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and online applications.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and Housing Navigator to align employment goals with participant stabilization plans.
  • Equip and support Case Managers and program staff by providing consultation, training, and resource guidance related to employment, income development, and workforce pathways, ensuring employment strategies are consistently integrated across participant service plans.
  • Develop creative and flexible income strategies by identifying emerging employment models and alternative income opportunities that help families increase financial stability.
  • Identify and develop employment opportunities and job leads by building relationships with employers, workforce partners, and community organizations, connecting participants to appropriate job openings aligned with their skills and career goals.
  • Provide workshops or group sessions such as career development foundations, networking and professional skills, resume writing and interviewing, and online job searching for families.
  • Coordinate Door of Hope’s Pathways Internship placements and deliver mentorship and professional development support to interns and supervisors, preparing participants for entry into the workforce.
  • Oversee career and education scholarship support by assessing participant readiness and identifying appropriate training, certification, and education opportunities.
  • Coordinate scholarship approvals and documentation; track funding allocations and outcomes.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain partnerships with workforce, education, and training providers; connect participants to appropriate employment and career advancement opportunities.
  • Partner with Program Leadership to evaluate needs and expand Job & Career Navigation services through new initiatives, partnerships, and program enhancements.
  • Participate in case conferencing and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Support the development and implementation of program systems, processes, and tracking tools to ensure effective delivery of career navigation and workforce development services.
