Job Summary

As a member of the Children, Youth and Family Services Adoption Team, you will hold primary responsibility for Adoption Assistance negotiations, including negotiation of initial adoption agreements, renegotiation requests, and contracts necessary for adoption and guardianship agreements. You will also be cross‑trained on adoption caseworker duties and provide case management to children post‑termination through adoption finalization.

Hiring Range

$57,800.00 – $62,800.00 annually (anticipated hiring rate: $60,538.40 annually)

Schedule & Location

The average workday is Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Flexibility is required to accommodate client schedules, and a hybrid schedule may be available after an initial evaluation period. The position may require 24/7 on‑call duties and after‑hours rotation. Hybrid remote work is dependent on department discretion.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Interview clients and develop treatment plans; initiate and/or participate in home studies and provide intensive casework services.
  • Investigate allegations of child abuse and assess imminent danger; make referrals to community resources and collateral contacts.
  • Monitor and report client progress, ensuring treatment plans are followed in a timely manner.
  • Address child safety issues in the home to mitigate safety concerns.
  • Provide crisis management and coordinate support services for clients.
  • Act as liaison for the DHS and consult with other caseworkers and community professionals.
  • Provide casework and assessment services for teams within the Practice Unit.
  • Attend and testify in court hearings and mediations; complete appropriate paperwork and monitor client compliance with court orders.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings and staffing sessions.
  • Document all contacts and ensure accurate completion and filing of paperwork and reports.
  • Arrange transportation for clients to appointments, therapy, school, court hearings, and pre‑placement visits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and county laws, outcome measures, and regulations.
  • Support Practice and Support and Services teams within the CYFS Division as needed.
  • Collect and report statistics and data on unit outcomes and performance.
  • Facilitate meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of casework practices, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork with clients, co‑workers, and community professionals.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and organize.
  • Decision‑making and problem‑solving skills; apply conflict resolution techniques.
  • Accurate and efficient completion of paperwork and documentation.
  • Independent and team‑oriented work capabilities.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment (computer, fax, copier, telephone).
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to child welfare social casework, with coursework in human behavior, child development, family intervention, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.
  • A degree in progress that is conferred by the start date may be considered.
  • One year of professional, internship, or volunteer experience in a human service‑related agency.
  • Completion of a BSW or MSW internship in a human services‑related agency may substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Experience working with contracts.
  • Experience with adoption programs or the Relative Guardianship Assistance Program (RGAP).
Licenses & Certificates
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Required certifications as applicable to the position.
  • Colorado State Child Welfare Caseworker Certification within ninety days of enrollment and thereafter.
