Posted Internally and Externally Buncombe County offers in-office, hybrid, and remote positions. Employees in positions that are approved for remote work must work at a location within a 2-hour drive from the position's assigned Buncombe County facility.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision for social work staff in the Family In Home Division. The Family In Home Division is mandated to work with families that have been identified to have maltreated children and the children remain in the home.  The goal of the division is to prevent entry into the Foster Care system. There are two specialized teams in addition to 3 general teams in the division.  

This supervisor will supervise a team of social work staff who work cases that involve all areas of child maltreatment.
** Purpose of the position:
** The purpose of this position is to provide supervision, leadership, and program oversight for a designated social work program area, such as Adult Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, Licensing, Placement, or After-Hours Response. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, legally compliant, and client-centered services by supporting staff development, promoting effective workflows, and maintaining adherence to applicable policies, procedures, and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
** Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire):
** Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work or master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of directly related experience;

or a bachelor’s degree in any field from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
** Additional Training and Experience**:
English/Spanish bi-lingual speakers preferred. Certificate of completion of the NCDHHS Pre-Service Training:
Child Welfare in North Carolina is preferred.

* Physical Requirements:

** The work is primarily light work requiring exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
** Essential Functions of the position:
