What's your day like?

As a Housing Locator at EDEN, you will start each day by reviewing client cases and identifying immediate needs related to housing assistance. You'll engage with clients through phone calls and virtual meetings, guiding them through the complexities of rental assistance programs including Section 8 and HUD options. Daily tasks will include researching affordable housing listings, coordinating with landlords, and conducting follow-ups to ensure clients are making progress.

Your schedule will primarily run Monday through Friday, allowing you to maintain a work-life balance while providing essential support to the community. Expect to spend time entering case notes and updating client records in our management system to ensure accurate tracking of progress and needs. Collaboration is key; you will meet regularly with team members to share insights and solutions, enhancing the overall effectiveness of our housing assistance efforts.

What matters most

To excel as a Housing Locator at EDEN, candidates must possess a unique blend of skills and experience tailored to the nonprofit social services sector. A high school diploma or equivalent is essential, along with three years of experience in homeless and housing services. While a Bachelor's Degree is preferred, ongoing training will deepen your understanding of the rental assistance landscape, including Section 8 and HUD programs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for building relationships with clients and community partners.

Proficiency in case management software and other tools will streamline your operations while organizing client data effectively. A valid Ohio driver's license with no more than four points, along with proof of insurance and a reliable personal vehicle, is necessary for transportation to appointments and housing inspections. Certification in Housing Quality Standards (HQS) is also preferred, and upon hire, you will be required to complete certification to enhance your expertise in housing compliance and quality assurance.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • three years of experience in homeless and housing services are required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • A valid Ohio driver's license with 4 points or less and proof of insurance is required.
  • A reliable personal vehicle for transportation to be utilized for work purposes is required.
  • Certification in Housing Quality Standards (HQS) is preferred (once hired
  • the employee is required to complete and pass certification requirements).
