Our company was incorporated in 1984 within the State of North Carolina, and opened its doors for business in August of 1985. The company has continually grown to a point where we currently serve more than 600 individuals, and employ more than 1000 people across the state. Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina.
The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12.
Direct Support Professional
- Community/Client Home Based Services Pay Rate: $16/hr Part Time- schedule TBD with employee input. Full Time available with other clients. Become a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities meet their personal goals. The DSP works in the individual's home and/or in a community setting, providing care according to the specific needs and goals of the individuals.
Job Description:
Provide support to a cool college student who likes goofing around and hanging out downtown. His interests include chess, video games, and bike riding. A day with this individual may include walking his dog, eating Duck Doughnuts, and assisting with physical therapy exercises. Potential to be fun and rewarding.
Hands-on duties will include:
- Assisting with ambulation, eating/drinking, and personal care
- Providing transport and companionship out in the community
- Doing leisure activities together
- Supporting him in achieving his personal goals
Requirements:
- High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school.
- Valid NC Driver's license and acceptable Driving Record.
- Criminal Record Check.
- Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
- Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.
- Ability to remain on one's feet most of the time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Prompt and regular attendance. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
- Ability to meet client-specific needs.
