Do you have a passion for helping children and families in your community? As a caseworker you will be providing protective and supportive services for abused and/or neglected children within Fayette County.
This position focuses on investigating reports of mistreatment and helping ensure the safety of children in crisis situations. As a Substitute County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Child Safety Checks: Investigate reports of mistreatment and respond to situations involving possible abuse
- Case Documentation: Enter information into case records to maintain accurate and complete files
- Crisis Response: Provide intervention during emergencies and take part in on-call rotations
- Training Completion: Participate in required instruction to achieve Caseworker Certification
- Team Support: Carry out tasks assigned by supervisors and assist with other responsibilities
- Full-time, temporary employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 1-hour lunch.
- Travel, overtime, after hours work and on-call is mandatory.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week after approval of supervisor and must hold regular status as County Caseworker 1. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Please note this position is full-time temporary with the potential to become full-time permanent. There is one vacancy.
- Annual salary starts at $46,878 plus overtime and on-call pay. After the completion of eighteen (18) months, the employee will earn County Caseworker 2 certification with an annual salary of $52,202.

- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
