About the Role:
Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment (HAVE) is looking for a passionate and dedicated Housing Specialist to join our mission-driven team in Gaithersburg, MD. In this role, you'll make a real difference by connecting individuals and families with the housing resources and support they need to thrive. Responsibilities:
- Assess client housing needs and develop individualized housing plans and support strategies
- Connect clients with affordable housing resources, rental assistance programs, and community services
- Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords, housing authorities, and social service agencies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, documentation, and client records
- Coordinate with vocational and employment teams to provide wraparound client support
- Conduct housing searches, accompany clients to viewings, and assist with lease negotiations
- Monitor client progress and provide ongoing follow-up to ensure housing stability
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or related field preferred
- Prior experience in housing case management, social services, or community advocacy
- Knowledge of local and federal housing programs, HUD guidelines, and rental assistance resources
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-centered approach
- Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
