POSITION TITLE:

Bilingual Family Navigator

PROGRAM:
Intimate Partner Violence - Family Assessment Intervention Response

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide Intensive Family Assessment Intervention Response as delineated in the Intimate Partner Violence program standards, including crisis intervention, counseling, parent education and skill building, linkage to concrete services, and advocacy. This position reports to the IPV-FAIR Program Manager.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide advocacy, concrete supports, and psychoeducation to families impacted by intimate partner violence in a manner that is culturally responsive and family-centered.
  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with families and use engagement and motivational strategies to promote participation.
  • Assist with strength-based assessments, trauma screening, safety planning, parent education, skill building, and implementation of the Fathers for Change and Mothers and More curricula.
  • Collaborate with families, DCF, CSF, and community providers to develop service plans, coordinate resources, and connect families with needed supports.
  • Advocate for families while promoting self-advocacy and independence in accessing services.
  • Monitor family progress, assess ongoing needs, and adhere to all IPV-FAIR model and DCF Scope of Service requirements.
  • Provide primarily home-based services to families within the assigned catchment area, maintaining a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Accept assigned referrals, complete initial family visits within required time frames, and maintain regular communication with DCF/CSF and the treatment team.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and consultation, ensure client safety, and complete all documentation accurately and on time.
  • Provide coverage for program staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in human services or related field and at least 2 years experience working with families.
  • Commitment to the IPV-FAIR model.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and translate in Spanish.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

  • Valid CT driver’s license, reliable transportation and valid auto insurance required.

TYPICAL

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Work is performed primarily in client homes.
  • Requires extensive travel to client homes and throughout the community.
