Family Foster Care Coordinator

The Family Foster Care Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting prospective professional foster parents, licensing family foster parent applicants, relicensing current family foster parents and monitoring family foster homes for safety and compliance.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field of study and two plus years' experience in social work or related field preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills to successfully perform in this role.
  • State of Florida Child Welfare certification, required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in child welfare.
  • Must have interviewing and assessment skills in order to adequately assess the qualifications of potential professional foster parents.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity to our target population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Visits Family Foster Homes monthly, assesses the safety of the children in care, and completes Home Visit Reports.
  • Documents contacts with foster parents in FSFN.
  • Completes initial and re-licensing home studies.
  • Facilitates trainings with Professional Foster Parents in home/office or at meetings.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly family outings.
  • Facilitate/monitor weekly commissary distribution.
  • Conducts Foster Parent evaluations/relicensures.
  • Assists in coordinating services/events for children & foster parents.
  • Provides supportive services to foster parents and children, as assigned.
  • Create policy and procedure updates as needed.
  • Create and maintain professional foster parent activities schedule.
  • Assures that Family Foster Parents are fully trained in the approved pre-service Curriculum.
  • Assures that all Professional Foster Parent homes meet standardized safety & licensing requirements.
  • Complete monthly safety inspections.
  • Assists in coordinating services to children & foster families.
  • Assist with transporting children to appointments as needed.
  • Completes monthly reports on children in care.
  • Complete incident reports as needed.
  • Assists in placement decisions, facilitate placement meetings with prospective children.
  • Assist placement on-call after hours.
  • Attends recruitment orientations and presentations.
  • Facilitate recruitment presentations within faith based communities and churches.
  • Submit and manages family foster home maintenance work orders.
  • Facilitate family foster care orientations as needed.
  • Perform all other job duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Employment Requirements
  • Valid driver license with a clean driving record, required.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
  • State of Florida Child Welfare certification, required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in English, required.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel

This position may spend up to 50% time traveling to various local foster parent homes, work locations and events.

Schedule

This position works a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the role. This position is required to participate in an after-hours on call rotation on a monthly basis. Schedule may be subject to change at any time, with or without notice. Other policies concerning this position are set forth in the current policies and procedures manual.
