Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging is expanding its Protective Services Unit. We are looking for robust and compassionate professionals to assist in protecting and empowering the older adults in our community. These Aging Care Manager 3 roles perform protective services investigations, provide expert guidance during key processes, and contribute directly to our mission. These positions support a caseload of vulnerable older adults who need protection from abuse, exploitation, abandonment, or self-neglect. Work involves conducting protective service investigations, providing technical support to staff and contractors, and other actions that rely on maintaining, updating, and applying extensive knowledge of Aging programs, services, and regulations. As an Aging Care Manager 3, you will perform the following duties:

• Risk Evaluation: Receive and screen Reports of Need for Protective Services to determine level of urgency and ensure timely follow-up
• Protective Investigations: Conduct interviews, review detailed medical and financial records, and analyze information and evidence; determine, recommend, and follow through with actions needed to provide appropriate protection and support
• Case Coordination: Participate in case conferencing with law enforcement, legal, behavioral health, social service, and other professionals as needed to resolve challenging or complex cases
• Care Planning: Participate in care and service planning with individual older adults to reduce and eliminate risk; provide referrals to community organizations for follow-up or other case managers for on-going case supervision
• Technical Guidance: Provide expert support to staff and community partners regarding regulations and procedures
• Document Management: Maintain detailed, organized records, logs, and written reports to support case activity

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Hybrid work of up to two days per week after six months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
• One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Allegheny County. If no eligible candidates who live within Allegheny County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
