This role focuses on helping individuals and families work toward healthier and more stable lives. You will guide clients through important steps that support social, emotional, and economic well-being. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Client Interviews:Conduct interviews to gather detailed social histories
- Program Guidance:Explain agency programs and provide clear information to clients
- Eligibility Review:Verify program eligibility and document findings
- Service Referrals:Arrange referral services and advocate for client needs
- Case Management:Maintain organized records, prepare reports, and manage a caseload using a computer
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- On call, 9 week rotation during and after regular work hours.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mifflintown, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;
or - A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;
or - Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
