Adult Protective Services (APS) Assessor
- State of Indiana

Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Regular Business Hours
Travel: Up to 50% (local, within assigned region)
Work Environment: Primarily virtual with required onsite investigations

Position Summary

SSO is seeking APS Assessors to support the Indiana Bureau of Better Aging (BBA). In this role, you will investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation involving endangered adults. This position requires onsite fieldwork and travel within designated counties.

Region 1 - Northwest Indiana
Region 3 - Southwest Indiana

Responsibilities
  • Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of endangered adults.
  • Conduct interviews, review records, and coordinate with investigative partners.
  • Initiate and facilitate referrals to community services and resources.
  • Document case activities including notes, safety plans, case plans, and findings.
  • Serve as the Priority A responder (within 24 hours of receipt) for urgent investigations on a rotating basis.
  • Respond to assigned investigations within required time frames.
  • Review and respond to quality assurance evaluations and performance feedback.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize multiple factors.
  • Excellent organizational skills; able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective interviewing and active listening skills.
  • Adaptability to policy and regulatory changes.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and general computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgment, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • 1+ year of experience in adult protective services, investigations, social services, human services, or law enforcement.
  • A secure work environment. Employees must have a dedicated, private home office space for phone calls, and all computers and documentation must be secured and inaccessible to others.
  • Reliable, secure internet with sufficient speed to perform their duties.

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for work authorization sponsorship including H-1B sponsorship) by SSO. Under the federal laws relating to the F-1 STEM EAD program, SSO may be able to support a STEM EAD extension application at the sole discretion of your Designated School Official. This does not guarantee that any STEM EAD extension application will be approved.
