Awake Overnight Crisis Intervention Specialist – Mobile Outreach Program
Pay rate: $23-25/hour plus overnight shift differential.
Location: Cumberland County, Maine. Hybrid remote work from a home office during overnight shifts with required community‑based crisis response as needed.
Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours/week, nights.
Responsibilities- Respond to and support adults, children, and families in mental health crises.
- Engage, de‑escalate, assess needs, and develop collaborative action steps.
- Provide direct service and intervention in person, by phone, or through electronic media.
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings as needed to ensure continuity of care.
- Establish and maintain positive work relationships, engaging fully as a member of the team.
- Proactively demonstrate constructive conflict resolution skills and employ helpful self‑care tools, recognizing and safely attending to issues of secondary traumatization.
- Perform all work with the goal and intention of maintaining a trauma‑informed, trauma‑sensitive, and recovery‑oriented framework.
- Passion for helping others.
- Associate degree or higher (preferred Bachelor’s).
- Proficiency with technology.
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Driver’s license and a vehicle; good driving record.
- No experience necessary – full training provided.
- Two years of relevant experience in a behavioral health or human services setting (or equivalent). One year of relevant experience is defined as 1,200 hours.
- Relevant experience may include crisis work, child protective services, warm line volunteer, residential care, case management, special education, work with developmental disabilities.
- MHRT/CSP certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment (on‑site training provided).
- Technical literacy: electronic documentation, solid oral and written communication, strong organizational skills, flexible schedule.
- Demonstrated competence with critical thinking, ethical decision making, and problem solving.
- Knowledge of DSM‑V preferred.
- Ability to work across differing systems within a team framework, encompassing different rules and policies across cultural perspectives.
- Belief that recovery is possible and maintain agency perspectives guided by the client’s needs.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, e‑mail, and the Internet.
- Must not be on state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
