TAG Med Staffing is hiring a Family Support Specialist (Bilingual) in Bronx, NY for our client, supporting foster care services, family engagement, kinship placement, and resource coordination. This temp-to-perm role will identify and engage potential caregivers, support youth and families throughout the placement process, and connect families with appropriate community resources. The ideal candidate has experience in child welfare, foster care, family services, or a related human services environment.

Responsibilities as the Family Support Specialist (Bilingual):

  • Family Engagement: Identify and engage relatives and other supportive individuals who may serve as appropriate placement resources for youth in foster care.
  • Needs Assessment: Assess prospective caregivers and family circumstances to help determine appropriate kinship placement opportunities.
  • Placement Coordination: Support referrals, family meetings, pre-placement visits, and other activities that promote stable family placements.
  • Resource Navigation: Connect caregivers and families with community programs, support services, and resources based on identified needs.
  • Ongoing Support: Maintain communication with youth, caregivers, and case teams while providing follow-up and home-based support as needed.
  • Case Documentation: Maintain accurate case records, track placement and outreach activity, and complete required reports using case management systems.

Qualifications for the Family Support Specialist (Bilingual):

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required, with a master's degree in Social Work preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of post-graduate experience in foster care, child welfare, family services, case management, or a related human services setting is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of foster care services, family engagement, kinship support, trauma-informed practices, and community resources is preferred.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic case management or documentation systems is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong bilingual English and Spanish communication skills, organization, relationship-building, family support, and multitasking abilities are preferred.
