Salary:
The salary range for this position is $66,568.61 to $ for Schedule A, and $66,568.61 to $ for Schedule

B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to October 31, 2015, are considered Schedule

A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after October 31, 2015, are considered Schedule

B.

The Judiciary offers a strong opportunity for growth. The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

The Essex Vicinage is seeking a self-starter to perform the following duties: in the Probation Division. The selected candidate will perform the following duties under the direction of the Probation Division manager and other supervisory personnel but not limited to:

• Liaison between Superior Court, the Prosecutor's Office, and Probation regarding cases.
• Supervise clients in accordance with risk level utilizing evidence-based strategies to promote behavior change as well as enforce conditions.
• Evaluate clients with complex or chronic problems.
• Identify barriers to success and develop strategies to overcome them.
• Facilitate crises intervention counseling.
• Discuss specialize treatment or supervision with clients.
• Identify barriers to success and develop strategies for resolution.
• Inform clients about available services and coordinate same.
• Monitor case flow and treatment plans and consult with treatment team.
• Consult with judges regarding case status and case issues.
• Prepare violation of Probation Documents appear in court and provide recommendations to the court.
• Analyze case histories, maintain data so that statistics may be generated as needed.
• Assist team members with work in progress and/or regarding management of cases.
• Prepare/present cases for hearing.
• Analyze and screen cases in accordance with existing laws, regulation or professional practices.
• Administer client drug screenings.
• Perform field work including home, school, and community agency visits.
• Conduct risk and need assessment tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Senior Probation Officer as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title. Applicants for advancement to the Senior Probation Officer title are not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any area, which includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in the behavioral or social sciences and two years of professional experience in interviewing clients and/or casework involving gathering and analyzing socioeconomic information;

determining client treatment needs; providing access to social services, therapeutic interventions, rehabilitative assistance, or professional counseling; and/or preparing reports and/or orders including findings and recommendations Degrees conferred outside of the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.
