Temporary Social Worker - Adult Protection

Job Summary

Under the direction of Home and Community Based Care Supervisor, this Social Worker is assigned to the Adult Protection team. Adult Protection responsibilities include report review, screening, and case assessment, as well as cases of Guardianship/Conservatorship. Assessment of Maltreatment may include, and is not limited to, risk assessment, interventions, service and safety planning, providing education, team collaboration, and more as a service response.

This position has a high level of complexity and also requires a high quality of consistent critical thinking and decision-making skills, excellent communication skills, and a high level of customer service. It is expected that the worker clearly informs clients of service options, assist in accessing services, provide service coordination, and frequently evaluate and monitor services throughout the duration of the case.

This position may be safety-sensitive, depending on assigned duties and responsibilities. Work hours and days are flexible. This role is primarily onsite in Waconia, with opportunities for remote work as proficiency is demonstrated. This position is temporary and will end by 12/31/2026.

• Performs client screening and intake functions and activities for the division or program area.
• Performs and conducts a variety of activities, tasks and functions associated with treatment planning, evaluation and assessment.
• Implements and provides professional social/human services to clients, their families and/or the community.
• Implements and performs all case management requirements, documentations and monitoring required to meet mandates, to document services, and to meet the needs of clients.
• Performs a variety of community relations, public relations and outreach services in assigned program areas.
• Collaborates with other professionals, providers, therapists, health professionals, internal departments, law enforcement, community or governmental agencies in coordinating resources and in meeting the needs of clients.
• Links clients to services and connects families to resources; may provide assistance in a crisis situation as needed.
• Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

• BA or BS in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related area or will have degree by 9/1/2026.
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in human/social services.
• Requires a valid MN driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
• Must successfully complete and maintain eligibility to provide direct care to clients in accordance with Minnesota Statutes §245C.03.

The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of written exercise, oral interview(s), reference checks, and background investigation, including 604 verification and MNDHS NETStudy 2.0 background.
