JOB TITLE: STAR Child Psychiatrist

LOCATION: Fully Remote, will visit STAR location in Boardman, OR quarterly

FLSA: .2 FTE (8 hours to start, Exempt-Salaried)

SUPERVISOR: Medical Director & Facility Administrator

PAY GRADE: B24 ($307,400 - $461,200 annually - breaks down to $147.79 - $221.73 per hour, depending on experience) This wage reflects Full time work of 40 hours per week. The wage will be pro-rated at the beginning of hire based on weekly hours, hours will increase with facility needs.

Schedule: This position will start on a part-time basis. Hours are expected to increase along with the facilities needs as it opens. Timeline and hours may vary based on the needs of the facility. Target opening is by November 2026.

The Child Psychiatrist serves as the attending physician responsible for psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and medical oversight of psychiatric care for youth admitted to Specialized Treatment and Resiliency (STAR). The psychiatrist collaborates with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, evidence-based psychiatric services that promote stabilization, safety, recovery, and successful transition to community-based care.

Supervision Received: This position is clinically supervised by the medical director and administratively supervised by Facility Administrator.

Supervision Exercised: This position does not exercise any formal supervision.

• Complete admission psychiatric evaluations.
• Establish and document psychiatric diagnoses.
• Determine medical necessity for admission and continued stay.
• Conduct psychiatric reassessments as clinically indicated.
• Prescribe, modify, and discontinue psychiatric medications.
• Monitor medication effectiveness and side effects.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
• Develop psychiatric goals and objectives within the Individualized Treatment Plan.
• Review progress toward treatment goals.
• Recommend evidence-based interventions and therapeutic approaches.
• Ensure psychiatric treatment aligns with the overall plan of care.
• Meet with parents, guardians, and caregivers regarding treatment recommendations.
• Explain diagnoses, medications, risks, and benefits.
• Participate in family treatment meetings.
• Support transition planning and continuity of care following discharge.
• Completes all paperwork in a way that is professional, clinically sound and timely as prescribed by the OAR's, CFR's and Joint Commission standards and other pertinent guidelines.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

• Medical degree in psychiatry from an accredited program.
• Completion of a child and adolescent residency.
• Licensed by the State of Oregon.
• Individual must be able to pass a criminal history background check.

• Must possess or can acquire knowledge of symptoms and challenges faced by people with mental illness and addictions. Must have or possess the ability to acquire knowledge about relevant OAR's.
