Role Description

The Funeral Director – Pre-planning is a full-time, hybrid role based in Paramus, NJ, with some work-from-home flexibility. This role focuses on guiding individuals and families through advance planning for cremation and related services, ensuring that final arrangements are documented and understood. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients in person and virtually, explaining pre-planning options, preparing and reviewing agreements, and maintaining accurate records.

The role also involves coordinating with internal teams and partner locations to ensure seamless service, following all legal and regulatory requirements, and upholding professional and ethical standards. The Funeral Director – Pre-planning provides compassionate support, educates families about available choices, and helps them make informed decisions that reflect their wishes and budgets.

Qualifications
  • Experience in funeral service, pre-need planning, or related fields such as social work, counseling, or customer service in a sensitive environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen actively, explain complex information clearly, and build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases, maintain detailed documentation, and follow established procedures.
  • Comfort with hybrid work arrangements, including proficiency with basic office software, video conferencing tools, and secure record-keeping systems.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion, with a commitment to providing compassionate, non-judgmental support to individuals and families.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn relevant state and federal regulations related to funeral, cremation, and pre-need services.
  • Ability to work some evenings or weekends as needed to meet family needs; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local appointments.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as funeral service, human services, communications, or business) preferred; state licensure or eligibility as applicable is an advantage.
