Asylum Works’ Employment & Education team helps clients prepare for, find, and keep living-wage employment to support themselves and their families. Clients benefit from one-on-one consultations, personalized job coaching, access to our e-learning curriculum, and connections to professional resources. Program Specialists work with job seekers to identify their career goals, create an employment plan, and learn about local resources and training that can bolster their employability over a period of approximately six months.
This program is for all clients, regardless of language, education, or work history.
Asylum Works is seeking a full-time (exempt) Employment & Education Program Specialist to provide direct services to our clients and support program outcomes. This position will be supervised by the Employment & Education Program Manager. Asylum Works is a hybrid workplace with an office in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC. This position may work from home up to three days a week following the onboarding period.
RESPONSIBILITIESClient-Facing (80%)
- Identify, screen, and enroll eligible clients in internal employment & education coaching program
- Conduct client intake and develop comprehensive goal-setting and employment plans alongside each client
- Provide high-quality, client-led career counseling to program participants, utilizing language interpretation services when needed
- Direct clients through Asylum Works online training series and connect clients to internal and external resources
- Document all work with clients in our database and provide updates to clients’ Health & Wellness case managers
- Maintain a caseload of approximately 20 coaching clients at once
Programmatic Support (20%)
- Contribute to the ongoing development and revision of internal education & employment training, resources, and communications
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of employment and education landscape and trends
- Support the collection of regular client feedback and coordinate with team members to ensure feedback is integrated into program models
- Coordinate client alumni group programming, “Career Success Cohort”
- Support the coordination of workshops and events for Asylum Works clients and alumni to promote program outcomes and continuing education opportunities for clients
