Host Liaison

Choosing Our Roots (COR) is seeking to hire a Mat-S Valley Host Home Liaison. This full-time, year-round position will work under the Co-Director of Programming as part of the direct service team. In partnership with Hosts, Participants, COR Staff, and community partners, the HHL is responsible for the identification, screening, intake, training, and support of scatter-site volunteer Hosts between Houston and Chickaloon, Alaska, providing community-based housing solutions for young people experiencing housing insecurity.

The HHL will develop and maintain strong community relationships with local organizations, agencies, individuals, tribes, and businesses to collaborate, coordinate care, and provide learning opportunities for the community, staff, Participants, and Hosts. This position will provide housing support and coordinate with the Mat-Su Valley Resource Navigator to meet the needs of Hosts and Participants with recommendations, referrals, resource coordination, and community-building activities.

$56, annual salary

• Identify, screen, intake, and support Hosts in providing scatter-site housing solutions for young people experiencing homelessness in the Central Mat-Su Valley region.
• Work collaboratively with Co-Director of Programming, Mat-Su Resource Navigator, Hosts, and Participants to develop and implement Individual Service Plans to meet the needs of Participants and Hosts, ensuring long-term housing sustainability and stability.
• Develops and implements Participant-Host Agreements that align with trauma-informed care, Positive Youth Development, Healing Centered Engagement, and other youth-centered approaches.
• Assists in facilitating Participant-Host matching.
• Participates in initial and ongoing case management plans for long-term housing, sustainability, well-being, and community stabilization with Hosts, Participants, and Mat-Su Resource Navigator to support the growth and development of young people.
• Develops, advertises, and facilitates community learning engagements to reduce stigma, increase community awareness, and bridge gaps in care.
• Provides support to Hosts as they adjust to new living dynamics, expectations, and responsibilities.
• Coordinate education and training for Participants, Hosts, staff, community partners, individuals, and volunteers to enhance their understanding of needs, resources, and possible solutions.
• Upholds requirements of HUD and CoC by entering data in the Homeless Management Information System.

May include lived experience of homelessness and experience in behavioral health. Must have experience working with youth and young adults, experience working with diverse populations, and have healthy, firm boundaries, ethics, and moral character. Ideal applications will also have experience in a peer support role, experience navigating dual relationships in professional settings, and experience advocating within complex systems.

Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance according to AK State Motor Vehicle laws are required. Must have reliable transportation for local travel. Must have basic computer skills to participate in remote work, data entry, and other essential job functions. Must be able to interpret verbal and non-verbal communication. Must have the ability to process and provide feedback in a manner that is sensitive to the cultural, linguistic, and emotional needs of Participants, Hosts, co-workers, community partners, and volunteers.

Must be able to balance working independently and as part of a team. Must be self-motivated and responsible.
