Join Us in Strengthening Virginia’s Child Care Workforce

Are you passionate about helping child care professionals thrive and ensuring families across Virginia have access to high-quality care? Child Care Aware of Virginia (CCAoVA) is seeking a Provider Support Specialist to support statewide professional development, workforce initiatives and provider-focused support programming that empowers child care and early education providers and strengthens Virginia’s child care system.

The CCAoVA Child Care Resource and Referral Network works across the Commonwealth to secure and support an accessible, safe child care system that effectively serves all families with children 0-12, and child care professionals in all care settings.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, service-minded professional who enjoys coordinating programs, supporting adult learning, and working collaboratively with partners and providers across diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Our Provider Support Specialist assists the Professional Development Coordinator and Provider Services Teams with the coordination, implementation and monitoring of professional development and provider support services offered by CCAoVA and our regional Child Care Resource Centers (CCRCs). This role provides administrative, technical and programmatic support across workforce initiatives, learning platforms, outreach efforts, and grant-related activities.

This is a primarily remote (home-based) position, with some travel required for meetings, trainings and events. Many CCAoVA and state-sponsored activities take place in Richmond, VA, so travel to and from this area must be feasible and should be expected.

Our ideal candidate is a team-oriented, motivated self-starter interested in working with team members and field experts in supporting the services and resources available to the child and early care workforce and our broader communities. You must be able to independently manage your workload and responsibilities, managing overlapping projects and deadlines, and work collaboratively across service teams, with network representatives and community partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Required Experience :
Minimum of two years professional experience in child care resource and referral, child care or early childhood education, adult education, or other related field

    • Knowledge of web-based training platforms
  • Preferred Education :
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, child development or human services-related field and/or an appropriate combination of education and professional experience
  • Ability to work remotely from a home-based office, as well as on-site to support agency operations and attend local and statewide agency and community events
  • Proficient technical and communication skills; experience in all standard software programs (i.e.: Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, 365 and Google Drive), experience in web-based research, data entry, database / web platform management and email, and the willingness to learn and use new computer programs / applications to support service and process improvements (such as Canva, Constant Contact, Adobe Pro, Survey Monkey)
    • Bonus qualifications:
      • Bi-lingual capabilities
      • Experience with LMS
      • Social media content creation
      • Video creation and editing
  • Pass state and national criminal history, child protective services and sex offender registry checks
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and personal form of transportation
