About the Role
We are an early-stage, venture-ready technology startup developing a mobile-first platform in the financial technology space. Our mission is to make sophisticated financial tools accessible to a global audience through elegant design, automation, and intelligent data integration.
We are seeking a part-time Back-End Engineer (Python / FastAPI / SQLAlchemy) to help build and scale our core API and data-processing infrastructure. This role focuses on managing massive data requests, optimizing performance across multiple providers, and contributing to a platform designed for global scalability and reliability.
You will work alongside our Dev Ops and database engineers to design efficient data pipelines and use UML as a foundational framework for system architecture and development planning.
What You’ll Do
• Build and optimize API services that process and serve large-scale financial data requests
• Design efficient data flow pipelines to support analytics, backtesting, and live market features
• Integrate multiple third-party market data providers through unified interfaces
• Collaborate with Dev Ops to ensure scalability, observability, and fault tolerance
• Apply UML-based system design as a basis for architectural decisions and implementation
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure consistent API speed and uptime
Location: Fully Remote (no timezone preference)
Commitment: ~10–15 hours per week

• Proven ability to build and optimize scalable back-end systems under heavy data loads
• Skilled in asynchronous programming, background job processing, and caching strategies
• Experience using UML to guide software design and development workflows
• Familiar with PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes in production environments
• Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and API versioning best practices
• Strong experience with Python, FastAPI, and SQLAlchemy
• Proven ability to build and optimize scalable back-end systems under heavy data loads
• Skilled in asynchronous programming, background job processing, and caching strategies
• Experience using UML to guide software design and development workflows
• Familiar with PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes in production environments
• Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and API versioning best practices
