Senior Software Engineer; Java​/GCP - Remote

Overview

Software Engineer II (Java / GCP / Spanner) – 12+ month contract – Remote - 2 openings. This role is remote with a preference to candidates located in Atlanta, GA.

Optomi, in partnership with a Fortune 10 retail home improvement company, is seeking Mid-level and Senior Software Engineers to join their Supply Chain Delivery Optimization team. This group is building the next generation of applications that power delivery experiences for millions of customers. The team owns critical services for capacity planning, carrier communication, slot reservations, and profiling systems, ensuring deliveries are efficient, scalable, and prioritized for customers.

You’ll work at the intersection of logistics, data, and optimization, helping to build and integrate applications that calculate delivery feasibility, prioritize customers, and enable loyalty-driven experiences.

• Build technology that directly impacts millions of customer deliveries nationwide.
• Address complex optimization problems across routing, capacity, and prioritization.
• Contribute to high-visibility, high-scale applications in a large enterprise environment.
• Collaborate across multiple teams and integrate homegrown and third-party systems.
• Support the end-to-end delivery optimization stack, including services for capacity planning and profiling.

• 4+ years of experience developing backend applications in Java.
• Hands-on experience with databases such as MySQL and Google Cloud Spanner.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and optimization models (linear optimization, decision matrices, network flows).
• Ability to build and integrate applications in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work through ambiguity in fast-moving teams.

• Background in loyalty technologies (frequency, spend, customer scoring).
• Experience building optimization engines, recommendation systems, or similar decisioning platforms.
• Prior experience working with big data systems across multiple teams.

• Building and scaling a new optimization engine to prioritize delivery capacity and customer value.
• Integrating multiple homegrown and third-party applications into a centralized platform.
• Leveraging data to calculate customer scores and enable loyalty-driven business actions.
• Driving delivery innovation for millions of professional and retail customers nationwide.
