The Powered by AFFIRM team builds the APIs and solutions that power all of Affim’s integrations with Enterprise Merchants and Partners. We create and manage the APIs and tools that drive checkout and merchant onboarding, and we collaborate with stakeholders to design and build custom end‑to‑end integrated solutions.

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year‑long time scale, tying it together with critical, business‑impacting projects.
• Contribute to the entire API lifecycle, including designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and evolving our APIs.
• Collaborate across teams in the product development lifecycle with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade‑offs are well understood and managed.
• Act as a force‑multiplier for your team through the definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes.
• Take ownership of your team’s operations and availability by ensuring monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing and alerting in place to support on‑call and keep the lights on.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting code review and design standards for your team, and advocating for them beyond your team through your writing and tech talks.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proficient in designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality with a technical and execution plan.
• Write high‑quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
• Thrives in ambiguity, comfortable moving from low‑level language idioms to the architecture of large systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
• Either a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Base Pay Grade – P

Equity Grade – USA 13

Base pay ranges per year:
– US (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $225,000 – $275,000
– US (all other states): $200,000 – $250,000

Total compensation may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents).

Remote‑first:
Roles are remote and you can work almost anywhere within the country of employment. Occasionally may be required to work out of an assigned office.
