We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer - Back End to join our dynamic team dedicated to driving impactful innovation at Delta Defense LLC

As a Software Engineer - Back End at Delta Defense, you will play a key role in the design, development, and deployment of innovative software solutions. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver robust, scalable, and high‑performance software applications.

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable PHP APIs; focus on RESTful services, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
• Integrate APIs with internal and external systems, enhancing data exchange and service orchestration.
• Develop and manage Kafka consumers that process large volumes of data; use Apache Airflow to orchestrate workflows, manage dependencies, and schedule tasks.
• Write Python processes to define and manage data pipelines, ensuring data integrity and reliability.
• Monitor Kafka consumer lags, handle data reprocessing, and implement retry mechanisms.
• Optimize data flow for real‑time processing and batch operations.
• Work with Cloudflare’s serverless platform to build edge computing solutions that reduce latency and improve application performance.
• Implement serverless functions for tasks such as API gateway, data validation, or authentication at the edge.
• Utilize Cloudflare’s infrastructure for global load balancing, CDN, and security features.
• Integrate PHP with Kafka and Airflow to create a seamless back‑end ecosystem; optimize throughput, latency, and resource efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with front‑end developers, product managers, and other back‑end engineers to ensure cohesive system design and implementation.
• Participate in code reviews, share knowledge, and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code reliability; engage in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimization of existing systems.
• Document API workflows and system interactions; provide training or guidance to junior engineers.

• Strong proficiency in PHP.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, including consumer and producer patterns.
• Knowledge of Apache Airflow for workflow management and orchestration.
• Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers or similar serverless patterns.
• Comfortable with Git for version control and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage complex distributed systems effectively.
• Strong communication skills to foster collaboration and drive successful team outcomes.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Degree in Information Technology, Business, Software Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent professional certification or work experience may be considered.

• Knowledge of additional languages such as JavaScript or Python.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Experience with microservices architecture, event‑driven systems, or domain‑driven design.

Salary range $77,000 – $95,000 based on experience. This role is also bonus‑eligible for the company incentive plan.
