ResponsibilitiesTHIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF...
You’re the kind of Android developer who:
Actively experiments with
new tools and technologies rather than waiting for them to be mandated
Already uses
AI-powered development tools to significantly increase productivity and code quality
Sees AI as a
force multiplier
, not a shortcut
Enjoys finding better, faster, and more scalable ways to build software
Cares deeply about clean code, maintainable architecture, and developer experience
If that sounds like you, read on.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for an
Android Developer who combines strong mobile fundamentals with a modern, innovation-driven mindset.
You’ll help build and evolve our Android SDK and internal tooling, working alongside experienced engineers in a product-focused environment. You’ll be encouraged to challenge existing approaches, introduce better ways of working, and use AI and automation wherever it meaningfully improves outcomes.
This role suits someone with solid commercial Android experience who wants real impact without being boxed into rigid processes.
What you ll be doing:
Build and maintain the Storyteller Android SDK, used by globally recognised brands
Deliver features end-to-end, from implementation to release
Translate product requirements into clean, maintainable Android code
Use AI tools to:
Accelerate implementation and refactoring
Improve test coverage and reliability
Debug complex issues more effectively
Generate and maintain documentation
Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making
Write well-tested code and participate in thoughtful code reviews
Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams
Improve development workflows, CI, and internal tooling
Identify and reduce technical debt in a pragmatic, continuous way
Investigate and resolve production issues, sharing learnings with the team
Over time, you ll also:
Take ownership of increasingly complex features and components
Help break down work into clear tasks and estimates
Provide constructive feedback to teammates
Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders
QualificationsCore experience:
2–5 years of commercial Android development experience
Strong Kotlin skills and a solid understanding of Android fundamentals
Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose
Experience with Coroutines and asynchronous programming
Experience consuming REST APIs and working with Git
Familiarity with Gradle
Understanding of modern Android architectural patterns (e.g. MVVM, MVI)
Experience writing unit tests and working with Android test frameworks
Comfortable working in a CI-driven environment
Strong written and spoken English
Mindset matters as much as skills:
Curious, proactive, and comfortable working with ambiguity
Willing to experiment, measure results, and iterate
Open to feedback and eager to continuously improve
Thinks about leverage, automation, and scalability—not just writing code
Nice to have:
Experience with Hilt or Dagger
Familiarity with Clean Architecture principles
Experience building or maintaining Android libraries or SDKs
Exposure to Flutter or React Native
Open-source contributions or an active Git Hub profile
HOW WE WORK
We encourage experimentation and thoughtful risk-taking
We expect developers to take ownership of their outcomes
We actively support the use of AI and modern tooling to improve how we build software
